Radiology
The clinic utilizes aComputed Radiography machine. This ensures fast and high-quality digital X-ray imaging with low doses of radiation exposure.
In some cases, in order to be able to take certain images, the patient will need to be lightly sedated.
When necessary, radiographs can be sent by e-mail for examination and consultation with a certified radiologist, who gives us a second expert opinion – in most cases in the same day.
Abdominal ultrasound
The clinic is equipped with a modern ultrasound scanner which allows us to non-invasivelyexamine the internal organs – without anesthesia, pain and stress. The method is completely harmless and can easily be repeated if necessary. It is used to visualize the organs in real time and in their natural movement.
In order to get the best possible image, it is necessary to trim a small part of the patient’s fur. Before the ultrasound it is preferable for the patient not to have eaten anything in the last 12 hours. The procedure is performed with the pet lying on their side or back.
Cardiac Ultrasound
Also known as echocardiography, this allows a non-invasive assessment of cardiac anatomy, heart muscle and valve function. Modern devices are also equipped with Doppler diagnostics, which helps to assess the strength, gradient and direction of blood flow through the heart and blood vessels. The majority of congenital heart defects and acquired heart diseases can be definitively diagnosed by echocardiography. No prior preparation of the animals is required for this exam.
Electrocardiography
EKGs are a way to non-invasively measure the electrical activity of the heart. The electrical voltage produced by the electrical conductivity of the heart is measured through the skin at various points by electrodes over a period of time and recorded on tape. Afterwards the results are analyzed and used to determine the presence of arrhythmias and other abnormalities.
Blood pressure
Blood pressure is the force that the circulating blood puts on the walls of the blood vessels. Taking blood pressure is a non-invasive and painless procedure.
Anxiety and stress can raise blood pressure, so the test should be performed in a quiet and relaxing atmosphere, and should also be performed several times to ensure that the results are not affected by stress. The most common way to measure it is to place a cuff at the base of the tail or on one of the limbs of the dog or cat.
