What is euthanasia?

Just as we grow old, so do our pets. Even if we would like to spend all of our life with them there comes a time when we need to say goodbye. Euthanasia provides a quick, painless and controlled end-of-life option for pets suffering from severe pain or reduced quality of life. While it is not an easy decision to take, our veterinarians are here to help guide you through the process.

When is the right time?

There are many factors to take into consideration but the most important thing to think about is your pet’s quality of life. If they are in pain, have difficulties eating or drinking water, have very poor mobility or are suffering from a terminal illness it might be time to consider euthanasia.

What should I expect?

Our process is designed to be as painless as possible. Once you and your doctor determine that this is the best choice, your pet will be given a medication that results in deep sedation. During the time it takes to reach this state you can stay with your pet to say goodbye. After they become fully sedated, they will be injected with another drug which will lead to their peaceful death.
