Why pet health checks are important?

Our team of veterinarians recommends that your pet have a 30-minute health check-up at least once a year (but ideally every 6 months).

These check-ups are part of the vaccination scheme and are also needed for pets that haven’t been to the vet in a while.  That’s because animals can sometimes only have slight changes in their behavior, instead of showing obvious signs of illness.

For this reason, your pet should have a regular veterinary check-up – this will help detect abnormalities or conditions that might otherwise be missed by even the most experienced of pet owners.

During the health examination we can discuss with you all areas of preventive health care, including: treatment against internal and external parasites, dental care, vaccination and nutrition. Just 30 minutes twice a year could save your pet from a lot of pain and discomfort and may even save their life.

What does a routine health check-up entail?

During the examination, our veterinary team will begin by taking your pet’s vital signs. A complete nose-to-tail examination will be performed and analysis of blood, urine or tests for intestinal parasites may also be performed.

Depending on the stage of your pet’s life, it can be given a vaccination or screened for certain diseases. Examinations are also tailored to the age and breed of your pet. This allows us to prevent the occurrence of undiscovered health problems.

Dental exams and weight checks are always important parts of the check-up and can show problems that can progress quickly and have a significant impact on your pet’s overall health. Early detection and treatment of medical problems will help ensure that your pet will live a long, healthy, and active life.
